I originally came up with this mix of a creative direction in 2019, after looking at scans of artwork from the 1980s, specifically in the horror field, admiring the talent of airbrushing in art from the past, and wanted to replicate this style as close as possible in a digital art form, referencing illustrator hajime sorayama.

I originally came up with this mix of a creative direction in 2019, after looking at scans of artwork from the 1980s, specifically in the horror field, admiring the talent of airbrushing in art from the past, and wanted to replicate this style as close as possible in a digital art form, referencing illustrator hajime sorayama.
The challenges of this specific project were actually more mental than digital, exercising my knowledge in lighting subjects and creating shadows in harmony with one another, visualising rim lighting, imagining a circle as a light source behind the subject, the strength of the virtual lamp, how this lamp would affect the rim lighting, the backlight, and the distance between the lamp and subject in frame.
